Khatu Shyam Ji is a famous Hindu temple and pilgrimage site dedicated to Barbarik, who is worshipped as an incarnation of Lord Krishna in Kali Yuga. • The Sacrifice: According to the Mahabharata, Barbarik possessed three infallible arrows and pledged to support the losing side. To prevent the war from ending instantly, Lord Krishna asked for Barbarik's head in charity to test his devotion. • The Boon: Impressed by this supreme sacrifice, Lord Krishna blessed Barbarik to be worshipped under His own name, Shyam, in Kali Yuga, granting that whoever remembers him with a pure heart will have their troubles resolved. • The Appearance: His head later appeared in the holy Shyam Kund at Khatu, leading to the establishment of the original temple.
